Muscat: Muscat Municipality has started implementing a temporary traffic diversion at the Mazoon Mosque roundabout as work gets under way on a major road improvement project aimed at enhancing traffic flow and easing congestion in the area.

The diversion, introduced in coordination with the Royal Oman Police, affects part of Al Shabab Street leading towards the roundabout. It came into effect on Monday evening and will remain in place until further notice while construction work is carried out.

The municipality said the project forms part of its ongoing efforts to upgrade Muscat's road infrastructure and improve the efficiency of the capital's transport network. The works are expected to enhance traffic movement at one of the area's busiest intersections by improving road geometry and increasing the capacity of the junction.

Motorists have been urged to adhere to traffic signs and follow the directions of traffic police while passing through the work zone to ensure the safety of all road users and minimise disruption during the construction period.
